(West New York, New Jersey) – A New Jersey elementary school, that went by The Robert Menendez School is changing its name after Senator Menendez was convicted on bribery charges by a Manhattan jury earlier this month. The school is changing its name back to, PS #3, it’s original name. Menendez’s name was plastered on the front of the school back in 2013, as a way to honor the 70-year-old who grew up in Union City.
Governor Phil Murphy, confirmed Menendez will step down from his Senate seat on August 20th. Multiple reports say Governor Murphy is being pushed to name Congressman Andy Kim as the replacement, which would give Kim a leg up ahead of November’s election for the seat against his Republican challenger, Curtis Bashaw.
