A New Rat Pack

syndication-the-fayetteville-observer-11

(New York, NY) New York City is launching another initiative to get rid of the rats, but this time it relies on the public. Mayor Eric Adams is dubbing it the new generation Rat Pack, asking everyday New Yorkers to serve as anti-rat activists.

Anyone interested will have to take a two-hour Department of Health Rat Academy Class before going on a walk with the city’s Rat Czar and then host or participate in an actual rat mitigation event. It’s all part of the city’s war on rats, which includes rules requiring restaurants to put their trash in secure bins with lids. Mayor Adams says the city has reported a 14-percent drop in rat mitigation zones year after year.

New Yorkers say they see rats everywhere, and don’t have a lot of faith in the latest effort.
