Hot dogs remain popular with Americans -- but the best regional dog is in Chicago -- according to a new survey.

(New York, NY) – Americans will pay big bucks for a good hot dog. That’s the finding from US Foods — a distributor who conducted the hot dog survey. It finds that $5.88 is highest Americans will pay for a single hot dog. On average, Americans eat two hot dogs per month.
Meanwhile, the price of hot dogs has gone up 7% this past year. The survey also found Chicago is the top regional hot dog. New York came in second overall. For New York the number one topping is onions. New Jersey’s top choice is ketchup.
