(Newburgh, NY) – Authorities have made one of the largest drug and gun busts in Orange County history — and it was made at a food truck. Cops say firearms and narcotics were being peddled from the Real Spice food truck — parked in downtown Newburgh.
Thirty people were arrested as a result of the investigation. Authorities say they seized kilos of cocaine as well as fentanyl back on May 21. That was the result of a six-month-long investigation. Police say the food truck was impounded.
Authorities have estimated the illegal operation brought in more than $3 million annually. Close to 40 separate police departments or law enforcement agencies joined the task force. Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler says “the food truck operated right next door to the city courthouse, within 150 feet of the city courthouse, it sold food, it sold guns, and it sold cocaine.” Among those arrested is 42-year-old Kirkland Salmon, who owns and operated the food truck.
