News: Day 20-Trump Hush Money Trial
(New York, NY) — Closing arguments are expected to begin today in former President Donald Trump’s criminal hush money trial in Lower Manhattan. Trump’s defense team is expected to go first and then prosecutors will give their closing arguments in Judge Juan Merchan’s courtroom. Lawyers for both side will try to weave together testimony from the 22 witnesses that answered questions in front of a jury of 12. Deliberations could start as soon as Wednesday.
South Carolina Republican Tim Scott says he’s followed the trial and does not think the prosecution laid out a real reason to find Trump guilty. The jury is trying to decide whether Trump falsified business records to cover up alleged hush money payments made to an adult film star just prior to the 2016 election. Trump has denied any wrongdoing.
