A porch collapse on Sunday, May 26, 2024 in Newark sent eight people to the hospital.

(Newark, NJ) – Eight people were sent to the hospital on Sunday in Newark when a front porch and staircase collapsed. A group was celebrating Dominican Mother’s Day along Kearny Street when it happened.
Officials describe the front porch as “giving way,” leading to the injuries. People on the porch were apparently thrown to the ground. Thankfully the injuries are described as minor. An investigation is underway to determine what caused the porch and staircase to collapse.
