(New York, New York) – Neighbors in Times Square, Hell’s Kitchen, and Chelsea are opposed to the idea of a casino in Times Square. A survey financed by the “No Times Square Casino Coalition” finds that only 23% of voters favor opening a casino. 9% believe that Times Square is the best location for a casino in New York City. A vast majority of those polled say that they feel a casino would increase sex trafficking in the area and exploit compulsive gamblers. Others say they worry about more traffic headaches. Some Times Square residents say they don’t need any more big attractions like casinos to bring in the droves of tourists from around the world. They say Broadway shows, great dinning and the bright lights are more than enough.
