(Peapack-Gladstone, New Jersey) – Town council members in Peapack-Gladstone, New Jersey made the very controversial decision to start a mass extermination on geese because of the droppings they’re leaving behind. The town says not only is it a mess, but a health hazard as well. Mayor Mark Corigliano says their concern with the animals is in Liberty Park. The town council believes the dropping left behind by the birds is enough to euthanize them.
The plan is to round the birds up, and gas them using carbon dioxide which would kill the geese within 20 minutes. Some citizens are not happy with decision, they’re saying it’s a no brainer that their beautiful park is gonna attract the birds, and there’s no reason to kill them. Some are even offering to rake up the droppings, and do anything else necessary if it means not going to the extreme measures of killing them.
