(New York, NY) — Mayor Eric Adams is headed to Rome today for a meeting with Pope Francis. Adams is taking part in what’s called the World Meeting on Human Fraternity. The mayor will meet with the leader of the Catholic Church on the sidelines of the conference. Adams is not Catholic, but says he is a faithful man who believes in the power of prayer. The World Meeting on Human Fraternity conference is described on it’s website as an event sponsored by the pontiff, that brings world personalities together for a roundtable of meetings.
The trip is being paid for by a charitable foundation founded by the Pope in 2021. Adams’ former Chief of Staff Frank Carone, will travel with the Mayor to Italy. They will return to New York on Monday.
