(Teaneck, NJ) — It got really ugly in Teaneck, New Jersey Monday night when pro-Palestinian protestors showed up to a benefit for Israel at a local synagogue. Police had to break up a number of fights between supporters of Israel and those on the Palestinian side of the barricades. Cops ended up hauling away a number of demonstrators.

The fights took place outside Congregation Bnai Yeshurun, as the synagogue was hosting a fundraiser for an Israeli group called, Zaka, The Israeli organization races to the scene of Israeli terror attacks to assist those in need. People showing up to the 8 p.m. event had to walk by the Palestinian protestors.  About an hour earlier, more than a thousand Israeli supporters showed up as a counter protest. Teaneck police say they were ready for the protests and had officers at the scene to keep to the two sides apart.

The two sides first exchanged words, then some fights broke out. Police broke up the scuffles. There is no word of any injuries. Police have not said if they made any arrests.
