(New York, NY) —  New Yorkers want to know if it’s still safe to walk through Central Park.  A woman in the park was hit with a hammer on Monday, and an HBO actor says a homeless man threw rocks at him. Last week, a man was robbed at knifepoint in Central Park on East Drive. A day earlier a couple sitting on a bench were robbed at knifepoint too.

Police say they are investigating all the recent attacks and have made some arrests. Michael Suthlbar, one of the stars of the HBO show, “Boardwalk Empire” says he was hit by rocks as he walked along East Drive, near 90th Street on Sunday night. He chased down, and then caught the man who allegedly threw the rocks. Police took the man, described as homeless into custody. On Monday. just after midnight, a 39-year-old woman was hit in the back with a hammer in the park near 64th Street and Center Drive. That attack was unprovoked. The woman was not badly hurt. Police have not found her attacker.

Two knifepoint robberies took place in Central Park last week. Police believe a crew of teenagers carried out those crimes. No one was hurt. Police have made no arrests.
