(New York, NY) — The NYPD is trying to figure out why some women across the city have been sucker punched over the last few weeks. The latest victim is 57-year-old Dulce Pichardo, who tells Eyewitness News that she was walking in Crown Heights, Brooklyn alone on Tuesday when a strange man just slugged her in the face. Doctors had to wire Pichardo ‘s mouth shut to help the fractures in her jaw and face heal quicker. The man who attacked her was tackled by some fellow New Yorkers, and held him till cops arrived. He was arrested, but is back on the streets today.
A number of women have taken to TikTok in the last few weeks to say they too have been sucker punched as they walk through the city. Some of the social media influencers worry the attacks have something to do with a gang initiation. The NYPD says it has seen the TikTok videos, and is not sure if it’s a trend or just one or two people carrying out the attacks.
