Jonathan Diller was shot and killed at the age of 31 while investigating an illegally-parked car in Queens. He was a three-year veteran of the NYPD.

(New York, NY) — There is outrage across the city, that a man who had been arrested 21 times and spent two stints in prison, was somehow back out on the streets and able to shoot and kill an NYPD cop in Queens Monday night. 31-year-old Jonathan Diller was shot during a traffic stop in Far Rockaway. The alleged gunman, Guy Rivera is in custody. Records show Rivera has been arrested by the NYPD 21 times. He was in prison as recently as 2021.

Officer Diller was beloved in his Massapequa Park, Long Island neighborhood.  A local florist there is making hundreds of blue ribbons to hang up around town in his honor. A restaurant owner is giving away free meals to officers in town comforting Diller’s family. There’s a candlelight vigil tonight in Massapequa Park to honor Diller at 7 o’clock in Brady Park.

A wake for Diller will be held Thursday and Friday at the Massapequa Funeral Home. His funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Rose of Lima Church. He leaves behind a wife and a nine-month-old son.
