(Charleston, SC) — Republican Nikki Haley is ending her campaign for the presidency. The news broke today after the former South Carolina governor picked up just one win on Super Tuesday, in Vermont. Haley is expected to deliver remarks in her home state of South Carolina. Just days ago, Haley cruised to victory in Washington, DC’s primary garnering nearly 63-percent of the vote, making her the first woman to win a Republican primary in U.S. history. She’s already ruled out running alongside Trump as his potential vice president and it’s unclear whether she’ll be endorsing him. Haley served as the former president’s ambassador to the United Nations from 2017 to 2018. Her exit sets the stage for a Biden-Trump rematch.
Former President Trump says he’s looking forward to the November election, after he won every state except Vermont on Super Tuesday. Trump now has 995 delegates. He needs 1,215 to secure the Republican nomination. Primaries were held in 16 states plus the U.S. Territory of Samoa. President Biden won every contest on Tuesday, except for American Soma, where Baltimore businessman Jason Palmer collected four delegates and won the primary.
