(Des Moines, IA) — Former President Donald Trump dominated in Iowa last night, winning more than 50 percent of the vote from caucus goers. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis came in second with 21 percent of the vote. Nikki Haley was close behind in third scoring 19 percent. Vivek Ramaswamy, who was a distant fourth, with seven percent of the vote dropped out of the race. Voter turnout in Iowa was the lowest it’s been in a decade. Snowstorms and record cold temperatures may have kept some voters home.
The 77-year-old Trump cemented the largest margin of victory in the present day history of the Iowa GOP caucus. He won 98 of Iowa’s 99 counties. Trump’s campaign says his victory in Iowa Monday night will help him as he moves on to New Hampshire for the granite state’s primary next Tuesday.
