WASHINGTON DC- The Pentagon says Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is being treated for prostate cancer, but apparently never informed administration officials. President Biden heard about it for the first time Tuesday morning. Austin had been hospitalized for surgery and later to treat a urinary tract infection related to the procedure. Austin was admitted to Walter Reed Medical Center on Dec. 22 and had surgery to treat prostate cancer. Austin developed the infection a week later. Meanwhile, the White House has sent agencies a memo outlining specific notification procedures.
Lloyd Austin is 70 years old.
