City Hall has sent out more than 4,000 notices to migrants families that their 60-day stay in city shelters is about to end. The families have to reapply for city housing every two months. Over the weekend, there were long lines outside an East Village school where migrants must go to extend their shelter stays. Fights broke out a few times when some men tried to cut the line. Many who waited hours to fill out an application for new housing say they are worried they may end up on the streets.
Last week, Mayor Adams filed a lawsuit against the charter bus companies that have brought migrants from the U.S-Mexico border to New York. He wants them to pick up the tab for taking care of the migrants once they get here. Texas Governor Greg Abbott says Adams should sue the White House for it’s failed border policy.
