NEW YORK, NY -The tri state region is about to get soaked in the second half of the weekend. Forecasters say a storm will reach the area Sunday–with heavy rain and wind gusts exceeding 50 mph–especially along the coast. The New York City area could see 1 to 2 inches of rain with flooding possible. Some spots around the region could see up to a half foot of rain. Temperatures will be mild, hovering around 60 degrees. There also could be thunderstorms as part of the storm system making its way northward. Travel advisories are in effect. The storm will reach its top strength by Sunday afternoon, and will eventually push off the East Coast on Monday. However, snow and rain are expected to hit parts of upstate New York and much of New England on Monday. Heavy wet snow could produce numerous power outages.
