(New York, NY) — Lots of cops will be protecting the thousands coming out for the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree lighting tonight. Some are ready to spend the day near the tree to get a good viewing spot of the lighting. The NYPD says it is ready for protests as Pro-Palestinian organizers have posted on social media for their supporters to “flood” the ceremony in support of Gaza. In an NYPD memo obtained by the “New York Post”, officers have been told that there are no “specific or credible” threats targeting the world-renowned event.
Hundreds of Pro-Palestinian protesters marched up 6th Avenue tying up traffic near Macy’s on Black Friday. Three dozen Pro-Palestinian supporters were arrested on Thanksgiving for disrupting the 97th annual Thanksgiving Day Parade while the New York Public Library’s main branch was vandalized with Pro-Palestinian messaging. The group has consistently says it wants to “disrupt” and “agitate” to draw attention to its cause.
