Knicks lawsuit
(New York, NY) – The New York Knicks have filed a lawsuit against the Toronto Raptors, and the club is seeking $10 million in damages. This follows the Knicks’ claim that a former employee left New York and joined Toronto — but stole team secrets in the process. The Knicks say that Ikechukwu Azotam took a job with the Raptors but took with him a prep book for the 2022-2023 season, video scouting files, opposition research, play frequency reports, and thousands of confidential files overall.
As part of the dispute between both teams, the Knicks have asked for an arbitrator other than NBA commissioner Adam Silver. The team says Silver maintains a close relationship with Raptors’ partial team owner Larry Tanenbaum — and that the commissioner would be biased or face a conflict of interest in arbitrating the process.
