(New York, NY) — The U.S. Department of Education is investigating antisemitism and Islamophobia at seven schools including three in New York State. Cornell, Cooper Union and Columbia all had incidents make news since Hamas attacked Israel in early October. That includes a Cornell student charged with threats against Jewish classmates and the suspension of pro-Palestinian student groups at Columbia. After its investigation, the Department of Education will offer recommendations to the schools and they could lose federal funding if they don’t comply.
