WASHINGTON DC – House Majority Whip Tom Emmer is dropping out of the Speakers race—the same day he was nominated for the job. The Minnesota Republican knew he wasn’t going to get the necessary 217 votes. More than two dozen Republicans opposed his bid for the Speaker’s seat. Republicans continue to meet privately in an effort to find a new speaker. Kevin McCarthy was removed by republicans earlier this month.
