Washington, DC –  A floor vote to elect a new Speaker of the House has been postponed. Republicans voted in a closed door meeting Wednesday afternoon in appointing Majority Leader Steve Scalise as the GOP’s nominee. Scalise still must win a majority vote from the full House to win the Speakership. This follows Kevin McCarthy’s historic removal from the Speaker’s Post last week by conservative republicans.
