(West Milford, NJ) — The controversial black bear hunt in northern New Jersey got under way this morning and will go through October 14th. Anjuli Ramos with the New Jersey Sierra Club is among the environmentalists and animal rights activists opposing the hunt. She says the state needs to focus on non lethal methods. The New Jersey Fish and Game Council signed off on a bear population management plan last month to help reduce incidents of bear human encounters. There will be a second round of hunting taking place in early December.
