(Moscow) – For the first time since 1976, Russia has launched a lunar mission. The spacecraft launched Friday morning from eastern Russia, and it’s expected to land on the Moon’s surface in 10 days time, on August 21. But India hopes its Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission arrives first – although it’s expected landing date is August 23.

Russia is aiming to become the first country to land on the Moon’s south pole. Tests will be conducted looking for frozen water.
