(New York, NY) — Straphangers are not too happy that fares will go up come Labor Day. Subway and bus fares for single rides will rise to two-dollars-90-cents and monthly Metro-Cards will go up by five bucks. Metro-North and LIRR fares are going up too, around four percent. MTA bridges and tunnels tolls will be higher as well come the Fall. The MTA says it needs the increase to keep service up and running. The last time the MTA raised subway fares was back in 2019.
