At Least 2 Dead In Shooting in New Zealand on Eve of World Cup

AUCKLAND, New Zealand—At least two people are dead in a shooting on the eve of the Women’s World Cup Soccer tournament in Auckland, New Zealand.

The incident reportedly occurred near the hotels where tournament teams have been staying.

Investigators say multiple people, including at least one police officer were hurt in the shooting.  Police say the gunman who reportedly was armed with a pump-action shotgun is dead.

Australia and New Zealand are co-hosting the World Cup.   Officials say the tournament will go on.
