Staten Island ferry workers call out

nyc-ferries

A Staten Island Ferry passes the Statue of Liberty, in New York Harbor, Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015. The skyscrapers of Manhattan look almost close enough to touch from the waterfront of Brooklyn’s industrial Red Hook neighborhood. But a lack of public transportation options makes getting from one to the other difficult. Mayor Bill de Blasio looks to change that with a plan to bring ferry service to some of New York City's waterfront neighborhoods. (AP Photo/Richard Drew)

(New York, NY) — Staten Island ferry workers have called out sick again this morning. That means boats, that are up an running will not leave as often. Ferry workers have complained for years about being overworked and underpaid. They have asked the city to help with staffing issues by hiring more workers.
