(New York, NY) — The Department of Transportation says it will soon start impounding bicycles that have been locked up too long at city bike racks. Riders will have to the power to snitch on fellow bicyclists who hog precious spots for longer than seven days. The DOT says after seven days bicycles will have a notice put on them warning riders to move them. If they don’t, the DOT says it will remove them. Riders would then have 30 days to retrieve their bicycles at a local police precinct. Outdoor bicycle space has become precious in the city as more and more people ride them to work.
