(New York, NY) – Curtis Jackson, better known as 50 Cent throughout his hip hop and acting career, is closely affiliated with New York City – specifically Southside, Jamaica, Queens. But his recent comments center on another major American metropolis: Los Angeles.

After LA enacted a new “no bail” policy for its criminal justice system, 50 Cent took to Instagram and said, “LA is finished. Watch how bad it gets out there. SMH [shaking my head].”

Bail reform of this kind, which follows similar steps taken in New York, has been controversial. Some say it makes it too easy for repeat offenders to stay on the streets and continue committing crimes. Others say allowing bail to continue more or less criminalizes poverty, and keeps innocent people behind bars.

The 48-year-old 50 Cent is either a good or bad judge of the criminal justice system, depending on your perspective. Why he now says he’s a born again Christian, he has had previous run ins with the law, and penned songs with titles like “How To Rob,” and “I Get Money.”
