(New York, NY) – Mayor Eric Adams is going viral after he confronted a woman during a town hall in Washington Heights Wednesday evening.
The mayor was challenged by Jeanie Dubnau, a 84-year-old tenant activist, about rent stabilized apartments and rent increases that are coming down the pike. Adams quickly took issue with the woman and snapped at her: “First, if you’re going to ask a question, don’t point at me, and don’t be disrespectful to me… I’m the mayor of this city and treat me with the respect that I deserve to be treated. I’m speaking to you as an adult…Don’t stand in front like you treated someone that’s on the plantation that you own.”
77WABC’s Alena Powell spoke to Dubnau following the town hall and shares her side of the story.
