(New York, NY) – According to an IRS whistleblower, the federal prosecutor who handled the tax case against Hunter Biden was limited in his ability to bring charges. IRS supervisor Gary Shapley reportedly told members of Congress last month that Delaware US Attorney David Weiss told at least six witnesses that he was prohibited from filing charges in other jurisdictions. That notably contradicts testimony on the manner given by Attorney General Merrick Garland.

Now, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy says he plans to impeach AG Garland in response, potentially as soon as next week. He made those comments on an appearance with Fox News’ “Fox and Friends.” McCarthy made similar comments on social media.

Meanwhile, AG Garland has noted that US attorney Weiss was appointed by former President Donald Trump. He’s also maintained that Weiss was permitted under the Biden administration “to continue his investigation and to make a decision to prosecute any way in which he wanted to and in any district in which he wanted to.”
