(New York, NY) – New test scores released by the National Center for Education Statistics shows math and reading test scores for 13-year-olds it at its lowest level in decades. In terms of math performance, you’d have to go back to 1990 to find numbers this low – and back to 2004 in terms of the low reading scores.
The NAEP claims this shows there has been “learning recovery” post pandemic. For children who are black, Native American, or low-income, scores dropped 20%. For white students the decline was a relatively-lower 6%.
