(Newburgh, NY) – Kristla Holmes, a Newburgh New York mother, was left in shock upon discovering that her nanny had been abusing her 2-year-old son.
Holmes first became aware of the abuse when she checked her Ring camera during work on Monday. She recounted, “Be quiet,” and “Lay your a– down and go to sleep,” being picked up by the camera, followed by a distressing visual of the babysitter repeatedly slapping the infant. The camera footage also showed the woman placing her foot on the child’s head.
The nanny in question, Chantal Mason, had been a longtime close friend of Holmes. Holmes shared her heartbreaking experience, saying, “She told me that he just woke up, she fed him, and he was laying on the couch watching TV. So when I checked the camera, that’s not what he was doing. He was hysterically crying.”
Trusting Mason to care for her children in the past, Holmes expressed her deep sadness and disbelief at the situation. She said, “You can’t trust nobody. You cannot trust your kids’ godparents. You can’t trust a long friend. You can’t trust nobody. Watch your own kids. Protect your own kids.”
Mason was later arrested and booked at the Orange County Jail, but was released Tuesday.Â
