11 protestors arrested during Jordan Neely demonstration

(New York, NY) — Police did battle with protestors last night outside the Lower Manhattan subway station where Jordan Neely, a mentally ill homeless man died after he was put in a chokehold by a fellow rider last week. The NYPD made 11 arrests last night and made a surprise find amid the protestors, a Molotov cocktail. Last Monday, 24-year-old Marine Daniel Penny put Neely in a chokehold on a subway, after riders say the 30-year-old made threats towards straphangers. Neely died a short time later  He had been arrested more than 40 times for a laundry list of crimes, including attempted child abduction, drugs, and indecent exposure. A Manhattan grand jury could decide if this week if Penny will be charged in the chokehold death.
