Ambulance Driver Killed
(New York, NY) – The man accused of murdering FDNY EMT Yadira Arroyo using her own ambulance has been found guilty. Jose Gonzalez was allegedly high on PCP in March of 2017 when he mowed Arroyo down, then dragged her along a roadway while driving off.
Gonzalez’ trial had been delayed due to a series of mental competency hearings. He now faces 25-years-to-life in prison.
In 2021, Arroyo was honored by family and friends during a ceremony in the Bronx. She left behind five children. At the time of her death Local 2507 President Oren Barzilay said he hoped Gonzalez would never again see the streets. That could become reality when he’s eventually sentenced.
