Queens, NY (77WABC)-Police from the 104th precinct, responding to a 911 call for a wellness check, found a 23-year-old woman dead with a gunshot wound to her head.
On Wednesday , January 11th police responded to 59-49 56 Drive shortly after 8 pm. Upon arrival they found Alexia Ruiz unconscious and unresponsive, lying within a first-floor bedroom.
EMS responded to the scene and pronounced Ruiz dead at the scene.
Further investigation revealed the woman sustained a single gunshot wound to the back of her head.
Police say there are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.
