MEDFORD, N.Y. (77WABC) — Two Long Island police officers were stabbed Wednesday evening while responding to a 911 call at an apartment building in Medford.
Police say the emergency call came in from a case worker who was checking in on two residents living in the building. One of the residents was acting violent, so the worked call police.
When officers arrived the man in question pulled out a knife and stabbed both officers. Shots were fired by police and the attacker was killed.
One of the officers injured was airlifted to a nearby hospital. A third officer at the scene was treated for an unknown minor injury.
