NEW YORK (77WABC) — Neighbors in a West Village community breathing a little easier after police arrested a man who is being charged with the rape of a jogger Thursday morning.
Investigators say Carl Phanor was arrested at the Port Authority after using a credit card belonging to the victim. They say he attacked a 43-year-old woman as she was jogging at the Christopher Street Pier around 5:30 a.m.
The suspect is also facing charges in two previous attacks. One incident involving a sexual assault of a female jogger in the vicinity of Pier 40 on March 27th, and an attempted rape on Manhattan’s East Side on October 6.
