QUEENS, N.Y. (77WABC) — A 22-year-old woman suffered a compression fracture to her back and other injuries after a man punched her in her face and pushed her down a flight of stairs leading to the train mezzanine at the 82nd Street — Jackson Heights train station.
The woman was standing on a northbound 7 train platform at approximately 5:20 a.m. on Sunday October 23, when she was approached by a man unknown to her.
Police say she was suddenly, without provocation, punched and shoved down a flight of stairs leading to the train. The man seen in the attached photo and video then picked up the woman’s bag and threw it down the stairs.
Nothing was taken from the bag. The man then fled the station.
The injured woman was taken by private means to NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst where she was treated for injuries to her left knee, back and right hand as a result of the assault. Police say the woman was also found to have a compression fracture to her back. She was last reported in stable condition.
The man police are looking for is described as having a medium complexion, approximately 45 years old, approximately 5’10” in height, weighing approximately 230 pounds with dark colored eyes and black hair.
