Police Release Surveillance Video and Photo of Man Wanted in Knife Attack in NYC Subway

NEW YORK (77WABC) — The New York City Police Department is asking the public’s help in identifying the man seen in the photo and video attached to this article regarding an assault  aboard the northbound #2 Train.

On Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at approximately 11 pm, at the corner of Broadway and West 72nd  Street, a 26-year-old man and his 34-year-old girlfriend were aboard the northbound #2 train when they were approached by an unknown man. Without any prior communication or provocation, the unidentified man attempted to sit on 34-year-old woman. Her 26-year-old boyfriend, told the man  to “step back from his girlfriend”, at which time the suspect slashed the victim in his lower left leg with a kitchen knife.

The woman immediately pepper sprayed the man. He exited the train and fled . EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to Mount Sinai Saint Luke’s, where he was treated and released.

The man police are looking for is approximately 50-years-old, has a dark complexion, is approximately 5’11” tall, and weighs approximately 180 lbs. Police says he has a medium build, brown eyes, brown hair and a grey beard. He was last seen wearing a blue hooded jacket, black pants, a grey hooded sweatshirt and a black watch cap.

The unidentified man was observed on transit surveillance video prior to the incident inside the Time Square subway station located 42 Street exiting the southbound (N) train:
