  3. First and foremost, my deepest condolences to Bernard Mcquirk’s family – Carol and his children, Melanie and Brendan and his father and other family members. I have been watching/listening to Bernie since 1996 when the Imus in the Morning show was put on MSNBC and his appearances on Fox with Bill O’Reilly. Being from Texas, it was refreshing to see this NYC show. I started following them on the radio after that as well. I think Bernie still had hair on his head at that time. I don’t put Bernie on the same level as Rush Limbaugh. Losing Rush was difficult as well. Yet, I have been listening to him for so long – it was as if he was a part of the family. He was there during rough times, like 9-11; iraq war; fighting for this country in getting behind President Trump, etc. My daily routine of listening to him while going to work every morning – keeping me company always during my long drive. Especially, during covid, Bernie was a calming voice during his shows with Sid. His intellect; comic wit, and professionalism will live on. So glad we have his voice on tape to be able to hear him on demand. I know he fought as hard as he could and gave his family time to be with him as long as he could. Thank you Bernie for all you did. We love you and May you Rest in Peace.

  4. Bernard has been a part of my life from the years he was with the Imus show til now. Bernie spoke to me every day on the air. Giving me all the information I needed to be well versed in all subjects and to make me laugh a bit every morning. Most of all, I really just enjoyed him personally. Warm, sincere, and talented in the art of reaching all who listened. So many people call him "a good man". I love hearing that about him. I will always miss him. I am so sorry for our loss.

  5. My husband Ira and I are devastated upon hearing of the passing of Bernie. His kindness, his smarts, his love of his family will forever be missed. Our sympathy to his beautiful family. We will miss Bernie forever!

  6. I write from Scotland. I went on to Google by chance this morning to see if I could find out how Bernie was doing in his brave fight. Couldn’t see anything but, as I often do, went online to hear the start of the show (11 am my time) and heard Chad breaking the terrible news. I am profoundly sorry and send all my best wishes to Bernie’s family and all his colleagues and friends at 77 WABC.
I’m a bit older than Bernie and grew up in the UK listening as a youngster to the pirate radio stations that broke the BBC’s radio monopoly in the mid-60s. That’s why I made my career in radio. I wasn’t cut out to be a ‘jock’ so got in through journalism. I spent 30 years in radio. Those pirate radio guys – many of them American – were intense and brilliant broadcasters. I reckon because they were stuck out on a ship or old anti-aircraft fort, with no escape for weeks on end, they channelled everything they had through that transmitter. They were talking to ME – no-one else. And I think that is what Bernie had. A brilliant, intelligent, engaging focus on his listener. I began listening to 77 WABC just as John Catsimatidis took over the station. I’d never heard of Bernie, and I’d never heard of Sid, but I know pure on-air talent when I hear it. Do I agree with all their political schtick? Of course, not all of it. But I never let that get in the way of my admiration for Bernie and Sid as radio broadcasters, for Mr Catsimatidis (who must love radio as I do), for Chad and the rest of the back-up team at the station. Your achievements over the last few years – not least in the ratings – is remarkable and awe inspiring. God Bless you all, God Bless radio and above all, God Bless and keep Bernie McGuirk. I wish I had been able to meet him and I wish I had been able to have the privilege of working with him.

  7. Weekday mornings at my office in Pennsylvania will not be the same without Bernie. He and Sid were the perfect pairing of the common sense, well read Bernie and the lovable, gregarious Sid. I found Bernie & Sid through an interview posted on Bill O’Reilly’s website. I went searching to find out who they were and I’ve been hooked ever since. Everyday Bernie did what he did and that was instrumental in helping to send him and Sid straight to the top of the ratings. To Bernie’s family, Sid Rosenberg and the staff at 77WABC, please feel the support and sympathies of all those have been touched by the voice of Bernard McGuirk. He’s earned, exactly what he and Sid sign off with each morning….PEACE!

  8. Not just an amazing radio and TV personality but an overall down to earth nice guy. Had the privilege of meeting him at an Imus Radiothon at the Palm Court (Hackensack Medical Center). As a pharmacy manager who handled the Imus Ranch Med Inventory I was introduced to Bernie. I wasn’t some big hospital CEO/CFO but Bernie took a few minutes to hang with me while being harassed by Imus. I will always remember your freind ship that day. God bless Bernie and his family. You made me laugh every day since day one.

  9. May God bless you and hold you in his arms, Bernie. You will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Sending prayers to you and your family. You were one of a kind and you will always be a presence on the Bernie & Sid show………

  10. Rest in peace BERNIE YOU WILL BE MISSED YOU AND SID BECAME A PART OF MY FAMILY EACH AND EVERY DAY IN THE MORNING GOD SPEED TO HEAVEN YOUR PAIN ON THIS EARTH IS OVER. 😢😢😢😢😢😢

  11. Hearing of your passing was such sad news to wake up to this morning. Sid had a way of keeping you involved these last few week even when you weren’t there. Now, you really will be missed. RIP Bernie.

  12. There are no words on this tremendous loss of a SPECTACULAR radio personality! I listened to Bernie for over 30 years, and he was like family even though I never had the honor of meeting him in person. My family would often say to me what did Bernie say about this or that topic and truly wanted to know what his opinion was because he was over the top intelligent! My heart goes out to his wife Carol and his children who he loved greatly, and we the radio listeners just knew this by what he communicated across the radio. Sid we LOVE you and while you have a big shoe to fill you must for Bernie, nothing less will do! RIP BERNARD MCGUIRK

  13. On board early with the number one rated show in the am, have always enjoyed the show from inception with both unique individuals Bernie and Sid. Today I am truly sadden to learn of Bernie’s long fight and battle with prostate cancer, has gotten the best of a great personality. As with all listeners today , I believed/prayed that Bernie was going to win and return. Although today we learn there is great loss in the passing of Bernie . For myself, I can say, and hope on behalf of the loyal day to day listeners, because of Bernie’s many conversations, opinions and banter with his partner Sid, we were in fact, always the winners . Bernie , "thanks" for the memories , you will be missed.

  14. With my deepest sympathy on your loss.
Another small piece of old NYC gone forever.
You will be missed by all.

  15. Been listening to you guys for 4 yrs+ , found you guys by accident one morning on way to work flipping through channels, been hooked ever since. I did not know Bernie personally but listening every morning, he made you feel part of his family, I worked in the pct where he grew up for 24 yrs, and my wife grew up not far from Getty Square, so when he spoke of theses places it hit home. You will ne missed. Thank you for many mornings of making me laugh and for your knowledge on so many topics RIP BERNIE🙏💙

  25. God rest his soul. He was a good man, husband and father. Well read, exceptionally smart and politically astute. I will miss his opinions dearly.
Deepest condolences to his family and all his friends.

  26. Rest In Peace Bernie! I listened to you for 30+ years and you were the highlight of every show. Loved your appearances on the O’Reilly factor. And once you and Sid teamed up, it was instant gold! Meeting Sid at numerous Giants games in 2000, 2001, 2002 I witnessed his contagious personality and then with you Bernie, it was a match made in Heaven. Deepest condolences to the McGuirk family and the WABC family.

  29. I’m so very sorry to hear about Bernie. Have been hoping he would pull through. I miss hearing his calm, rationale voice (so funny too-great impressions). Started listening about 6 yrs ago after moving from NYC to burbs. Have always been a Democrat and his politics would annoy me when I started listening 🙂 Now I’m an Independent-mostly bc of listening to him. RIP, Bernie. Sincerest condolences to your family and WABC. I miss hearing your voice!!!

  30. Bernie we went through so much together. Thanks for the laughs. Will miss you deeply.
Rest now and please watch over us…Prays for Carol and family and my WABC brothers and sisters. God Bless

  32. I am so sad I got in the car this morning to start work, not prepared to hear Bernie had passed. I felt pain in my heart I just cried. Then I heard Sid and I lost it. This is a great loss, for the radio, for America and for the truth!! I love listening to this show every day, ultimately I missed a Bernie so much I enjoyed him so much!! I am so sorry for his family his radio family and for us his listener’s!! This is a huge loss and we all will
Miss you Bernie!! God bless your family!!

  33. I have listened to Bernie from the beginning. His days when he was the unknown in Imus’ ear in WNBC… I was hooked and followed him/ them all the way. Clearly he was the brains and the talent there. Imus was the delivery vehicle. As he gained his own notoriety his fans all celebrated and just watched/listened to that knowing it was all meant to be. And everything took off. So very well deserved! Heartfelt sympathies to Carol and his children who he spoke of often with love and devotion!!
    God bless you all!!

  34. God bless your soul Bernie. You touch so many people with your unbelievable talent and wit. God bless your wife and kids. We all love you Bernie. A true American.

    Andy

  35. my condolences to the McGuirk and the WABC family, what can I say I am saddened about Bernie passing loved listening to the Bernie & Sid show every day from Florida but especially listening to Bernie take on life especially in today’s insane world and his comments and most of the time I would get a laugh from him, even though I did not know him personally I feel we had a lot in common Bernie may you rest in peace.

  36. I’ve been a Bernie fan and have listened to him since the late 1980’s. Listening to him made me feel like he was my friend. Hearing that he had prostate cancer late last year inspired me to get checked soon after. Obviously listening to Bernie and Sid every morning I knew he was gravely ill. Still when hearing the news of his passing this morning I cried in the car……. Having lost my friend for 35 years. I hope he is remembered for his extraordinary talent and the family man that he was ….Rest In Peace my friend

  37. Condolences to the mccquirk family take comfort in knowing is in a better place free from pain God bless we take comfort in knowing the seated at the right hand looking down at us God bless the WABC family we always shared breakfast together rest in peace my brother we’ll see you when we see you

  38. Our prayers go out to the McGurk family. We loved Bernie and listened to Bernie and Sid every morning. Our condolences to Sid and all of you who worked with him. We never were able to “Beat Bernie”!!! Being from the Bronx, we felt like we knew him personally! He will be missed 😥

  39. My deepest condolences to the Mcquirk family and friends. I listened to Bernie from his imus days and the Bernie and Sid show. He was a great patriot andhuman being. He will be greatly missed.

  40. Mr. McGuirk was a sweet and decent man (and, of course, tough as nails) and a first class talent. This is true. Now it is not nice and admittedly this is not the appropriate forum to dispel the absolute lie that the other guy is a genuine radio talent. He is not. I suppose the nice way to put it is "I don’t get Sid," but I have a higher degree of certainty that Mr. Rosenberg is worthy of any listener’s attention. I realize you tout your ratings; we shall see how well they hold up. I’m using this opportunity to convey one listener’s perspective. I am sorry to use this forum for that purpose and a little reluctant to do so but I’m tired of this lie that Mr. Rosenberg has any talent or gravitas.

  41. God Speed to Bernie…. he will be missed terribly…. I am a blubbering mess this morning…. all of us listeners lost a member of our family.. A true American patriot, a true New Yorker and a true gentleman….. condolences to his wife and family, his radio family and all of his listeners…. Sid…I pray for you too….. you two were awesome together- like brothers… keep being you….

  42. Being from Indiana I couldn’t always tune in to Imus then I found the program on TV. Very entertaining but I particularly liked Bernie. Then with the advancement of technology I found Imus on WABC and always listened to the program every morning. When the Bernie and Sid show started I would tell my friends about how educational and funny the show was. Bernie like Rush became a true family friend. He will be sadly missed. My prayers to his family that he loved so much.

  43. I’m not on social media, so I’m glad WABC has provided this opportunity to send our condolences. The minute I turned on the phone this morning, it coincided exactly with the beginning of Chad Lopez’s announcement of Bernie’s passing.

For almost 30 years, he has been a part of my morning routine, and I will truly miss him. I have many of his ‘Cardinal’ skits saved on my phone, and they provide a window into a very funny and different time. I’m in New Hampshire, so the reach, success and expanse of the show goes far beyond NYC.

When ones so close pass, epochs of our lives are marked with sadness, but in time, that sadness takes on a richness and warmth that enhances us forever. My sincerest condolences to Bernie’s family, Sid, and the entire WABC family.

  44. Bernie has been a part of my entire adult life from the Imus days to now. A class act and talented guy. Bye Bernie

  45. I had the pleasure of meeting Bernie two times, and each time he was a gracious and friendly. He took the time to talk to my dad and I and even mentioned us on the air. I never missed a show. He was a true radio genius, and the reason for Imus’ success.
God speed my friend! We’re praying for the family.

  46. I am so saddened to learn about Bernie. Every morning I’d look forward to listening to the Bernie and Sid show…it’s no wonder the show rose to become number one. We all knew how seriously sick he was but always remained optimistic and hopeful for a recovery. I hope time will be kind to the McGuirk family and WABC radio family. Bernie…RIP…we will always love you and feel your presence next to Sid.

  47. God Bless You Bernie, you are going to be greatly missed, first and foremost by your family and then by the millions of fans who enjoyed your common-sense political views every day. First Rush and now Bernie. Keep fighting for this great country of ours, we need your help R.I.P.
