LONG ISLAND, NY (77 WABC) — Slain FDNY EMT Alison Russo is posthumously promoted from Lieutenant to Captain at her funeral Wednesday on Long Island.
Acting FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanaugh presented the title on Russo who was fatally stabbed in an unprovoked attack outside her Queens station, saying Russo “represented the best of us.”
“That man murdered my daughter, and she would be the first one to come to his aid if he ever needed help,” said her father Frank Fuoco.
“Do not let your thoughts be clouded by this act of sudden trauma, we need to honor my mother for the hero that she is,” said her daughter Danielle.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams called Russo a hero.
