NEW YORK (77WABC) — Two people were shot in Harlem on Tuesday Morning, including a retired NYPD detective — who was not the intended target — in what cops say was a gang related hit.
The shots were fired on Lenox Avenue just north of 125th Street around 7 a.m. Police say it appears the 21-year-old was the intended target, not the 60-year-old retired officer.
Both victims were taken to Harlem Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the retired officer was in the wrong place at the wrong time and was carrying bags as he walked right into the gunfire.
So far there have been no arrests, and the investigation continues.
