NEW YORK (77WABC) — City Hall says it will move it’s migrant tent city from an Orchard Beach parking lot in the Bronx to Randalls Island.
City officials say the move has to due with flooding from recent storms at the site. The new Randalls Island tent city, meant to process and temporarily house migrants being bused here from the US Southern border has room for around 500 people.
Protestors in the Bronx were unhappy about the tent city there. Some said it would bring in the wrong element into their neighborhood, while others said it was being set up to far from public transportation and potential jobs.
