celebrating-100-years
Last night the Mets became the first National League team to get to 50 wins after they beat the Cincinnati Reds 7-4 on 7/4. Brandon Nimmo started the scoring with a three-run homer in the second inning. This was followed up by a three-run homer from Reds third baseman Brandon Drury who hit his 17th home run of the season and is surprisingly having a good year for Cincinnati. After Francisco Lindor’s 13th home run of the year in the top of the fifth the Mets never looked back winning 7-4 over the Reds. Taijuan Walker got the win in this game improving to 7-2 on the year. Walker struck out nine over six innings pitched and only surrendered the three-run homer to Drury in the third. Tonight, the Mets will be getting one of their aces back in three-time Cy Young Award winner and seven-time All-Star Max Scherzer. In eight starts for the Mets Scherzer has a 5-1 record with a 2.54 ERA. The man they call mad Max will be looking to pick up right where he left off for New York tonight against Cincinnati and I have no doubt that he will. In four starts at Great American Ball Park Scherzer has a 4-0 record with a 0.33 ERA and a 0.78 WHIP. The first pitch tonight will be at 6:40 and I can’t wait to see how Scherzer’s return goes.
