News: Abortion Ban Protest
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Arizona’s Republican attorney general says a total abortion ban that has been on the books since before statehood can be enforced, putting him at odds with that state’s Republican governor. And Louisiana’s attorney general is warning doctors against performing abortions even as that a ban there remains temporarily blocked.
The moves are among many examples of how states are grappling with long-halted abortion laws in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
The high court decision less than a week ago continues to set off legal battles across the country.
