WASHINGTON (AP) — Secret Service Agent-in-Charge Bobby Engel and the presidential driver on January 6 are reportedly prepared to testify under oath to the committee that former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony is incorrect.

According to NBC News correspondent Peter Alexander,  ‘a source close to the Secret Service’ told him that Engel is prepared to testify that Engel and the driver that day are prepared to testify that neither man was assaulted. The Secret Service has also promised in a public statement to respond to Hutchinson’s allegations that then President Donald Trump tried to grab the steering wheel of his presidential vehicle insisting he be taken back to the U.S. Capitol during the January 6 riot.

“The United States Secret Service has been cooperating with the Select Committee since its inception in spring 2021, and will continue to do so, including by responding on the record to the Committee regarding the new allegations surfaced in today’s testimony,” according to the statement from the US Secret Service.

Hutchinson also testified that Trump was ‘furious’ that his armed supporters were not allowed into the official grounds for his Stop The Steal rally on Jan. 6.
