News: San Antonio Migrant Tragedy
SAN ANTONIO, Texas (77WABC) — Texas Governor Greg Abbott is angrily blaming President Joe Biden for the deaths of 51 migrants whose bodies were found inside an abandoned tractor-trailer in sweltering 102 degree heat in San Antonio, Texas.
The Republican Governor fired off a tweet saying, “These deaths are on Biden.” Other prominent Republicans also joined Abbott also blaming Biden’s immigration policies for the tragedy.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz tweeted, “How many more people have to die before Dems give a damn?” Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton also spoke on Cats at Night hosted by 77WABC owner and operator John Catsimatidis, saying, “the Biden administration is leading America down a path of destruction.”
The President fired back Tuesday, calling the “political grandstanding” over the tragedy “shameful.” In a statement, Biden said the deaths were, “horrifying and heartbreaking.”
