Intern Dean Pavlou – Analyzing the Knicks Plan this Off-Season

add-a-heading-2

On Thursday the Knicks surprised everyone by not selecting a player in the first round. Instead of taking anyone in the first round, the Knicks decided to trade away their picks and Kemba Walker for future picks. The Knicks acquired three picks in the 2023 draft and now have seven for next year in total. Many people around the league believe that the Knicks were trying to clear up cap space so that they can make a run at Mavs guard Jalen Brunson who played really well for Dallas this past season. If I were the Knicks I would try to make a run at Donovan Mitchell. I think getting Mitchell would be a game-changer for the Knicks who can shoot, pass and rebound at a high level. For the Knicks, I think getting Brunson will help, but I think they would be making a big mistake if they didn’t make a run at Mitchell, especially with all of the picks they have at their disposal now. It will be interesting to see what the Knicks plan to do in free agency but one thing is for sure and that’s that they’re going to get a point guard. Hopefully, this plan works out for the Knicks but I’m not a fan of what they did in the draft. Free agency starts on June 30th so we will all see how it unfolds very soon.
